About Hornish Bros., Inc.
Hornish Bros., Inc. was founded in 1946 and began as an
intra-state carrier, operating strictly within the state of
Ohio. In 1984, HBI received Interstate Commerce Commission interstate authority,
enabling its trucks to run in 48 states and the province of
Ontario.
Hornish Bros., Inc. is a primary carrier supplying logistical
service for the General Motors Powertrain plant in Defiance,
Ohio, as well as several other GM plants and their suppliers
throughout the Midwest and Ontario.
HBI operates over 100 tractors and 300 trailers, ranging from
conventional vans and flats to double vans and dump trailers,
operating primarily throughout the Great Lakes area.
HBI's operations department uses a computer-generated dispatch
system to control the pick-up and delivery of its customers'
loads. Trucks are equipped with electronic communication devices
which allow the drivers and dispatchers to exchange messages.
The devices also allow dispatchers to track the progress of
loads for our customers.
